What Happens During a Workshop?​
Firstly, the children are taught a dance routine so they can warm up as Rocktopus rock out one of their own original songs. Then, starting with a recap of whatever maths skill is the focus (e.g. the 7 X table), Tom and Andy weave the children's mathematical understanding into a unique song.
The children create physical actions and accompanying rhyming lyrics for each number sentence created. For example: 1 x 7 = 7, let's go surfing in Devon, 2 x 7 = 14, let's all eat more beans.
This process is achieved in a highly energetic and interactive way, resulting in a hugely memorable song with actions, imagery and rhyming which children take full ownership of.
Rocktopus can write songs about number bonds, counting, properties of shape or indeed anything that requires children to remember mathematical facts. ​
Each workshop ends with the creation of an awe inspiring music video - fully edited and personalised for your school. You'll receive a link to a private password protected page on the Rocktopus website where you'll find your music videos. Share the password with parents so that your children can watch the videos at home with friends and family.
